Year 12 go to Infinity and Beyond during Space Day

On Tuesday 5th November, 2024, the Year 12 A Level Physics students had an amazing day, led by Robin Mobbs from the National Space Academy.

In a jam-packed set of sessions, the students learned about orbits; how to become an astronaut (and a space lawyer!); conducted experiments on how the human body reacts to the vacuum of space; and finished the day building and launching their own rockets.

The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Soham, Year 12, said: “The day was very informative and fascinating. It taught me about new concepts and fundamental rules in physics, as well as how they apply to astrophysics.”

Krzysztof, Year 12, commented: “I am happy that I had the opportunity to meet such a great man today and I hope to meet him once again later in my life. I found the workshops today inspirational.”

Mr Gould, who supported the day, was impressed with all the contributions of our students, as they threw themselves into the day’s activities.
