Wind in the Willows

On Wednesday 17th July, 2024 the Key Stage 3 Drama Club treated an audience to their first-ever public performance of an abridged adaptation of "The Wind in the Willows". The enthusiasm of the cast was clear as they took on the tale of Toad and his friends, set in Toad Hall.

From the moment Gurveer, Year 8 burst onto the stage to the tune of ‘Highway to Hell’ sporting aviator shades, to Bruno, Year 9, leaping dramatically with his mango grenade, the energy never waned. The lively performance kept everyone on the edge of their seats, with the Weasels' attempt to take over Toad Hall and the ensuing chaos highlighting the talents of the young actors.

This production was a fantastic example of our school’s ethos of ‘hard work equals success.’ Despite the constraints of a busy term and limited rehearsals, the dedication and determination of the students, under the expert guidance of Miss Garner, brought the play to life. Mr Randall, Curriculum Leader for Drama, noted it was particularly special for Miss Garner, marking her return to Ruislip High's stage, now as a director.

Ms Coltman told us: The fun the students seemed to be having on stage was clear, and this joy was evident in every madcap, hilarious scene. It was a fantastic evening!”

Congratulations to the Key Stage 3 Drama Club for a successful performance.
