Trip to Cambridge University

On Tuesday 5th November 2024, students from Years 11 and 12 at RHS, alongside students from Vyners School, visited Robinson College at the University of Cambridge. The trip, led by Mr Peacock and Ms Bonny, was designed to give students the chance to explore what making an Oxbridge application is like, as well as to see what life is like studying at Cambridge.

The students were a credit to themselves and the school throughout, asking intelligent and thoughtful questions. A highlight of the day was a visit to the group from Portia Lawrence, a former Ruislip High Head Student, who is currently in her third year at the University of Cambridge. Portia spoke about her experiences applying from RHS, and gave her top tips to the students, who were inspired by her story.

After a series of talks, the students had the chance to tour Robinson College and other parts of the university in the afternoon. We are confident that the students who attended the trip left the day as inspired as the students on last year’s trip - after which,  several students made an Oxbridge application!

Caitlin, Year 12, said: “It was a really worthwhile day. It was very useful to see a prestigious university in action and gave us all lots to think about.”
