The Sixth Form Residential to PGL Osmington Bay
From Friday 1st April to Monday 4th April, 40 of our sixth form students took part in our first ever RHS Sixth Form ‘Big Weekend’. This brand new residential was designed to support students in learning key revision skills, balanced with a range of fun, community building activities.
All students took part in several revision workshops led by Ms Ohana and Ms Horton, which gave students the space to try a range of revision techniques and reflect on the ones they found most useful. During these sessions, the students impressed all the staff with their diligence and enthusiasm when planning and starting their revision.
Beyond these sessions, students had the opportunity to get involved in activities, such as raft building and ‘survivor’, which taught students vital skills for surviving in the wild (you never know when you’ll get lost in Ruislip Lido). On the final day, students had the chance to show their competitive sides, with a range of team challenges thrown at them.
Amy, in Year 13, told us: “I am so glad that I went to PGL with other students from our sixth form. My year group has missed out on a lot during the pandemic, so it was great to have the chance to experience a trip away from home with my friends.”
Ms Ohana, who led the trip, said: “Ms Horton and I have always wanted to run a study residential with sixth form students - we are so glad that we had the opportunity to do so this year. The students all demonstrated that they are excellent ambassadors for Ruislip High. Their enthusiasm over the weekend was a joy to see and I feel incredibly lucky to work with such wonderful students.”
Thank you to all of the students and staff who made the first Sixth Form Residential a huge success!
