Sixth Form Christmas Community Event

On Wednesday 14th December, the Sixth Form team hosted a Christmas Community Event, for members of our local community. The event, first run in December 2014, is usually an annual occasion, but has been on hiatus since 2019 and Covid-19 pandemic. It was wonderful to see the event back again and we were delighted to welcome back community guests once more. 

The evening is an opportunity for our Year 12 and 13 students to meet and serve members of the local community. Guests were treated to a festive buffet (with an all important cup of tea), followed by a ticket to attend The Winter Showcase for a festive hour of music and dramatic performances. 

The Sixth Form students did a fantastic job of greeting our guests and ensuring everyone had plenty to eat. Lottie, who served plenty of cups of tea during the evening, said: “It has been lovely. I have really enjoyed serving members of the community and getting a chance to talk to people I would not usually meet.”

Ms Horton, Assistant Headteacher in charge of Sixth Form, said: “I am delighted that the Sixth Form Christmas Community is back! It really is an event that encapsulates one of the goals of the sixth form and our school: to be a school at the heart of the community. I am really proud of all of our students for volunteering and making the event really special.”

All of our guests had a fantastic time, with them all commenting that they cannot wait to see us next year and that the students were a credit to the school. Thank you to the Sixth Form team and students for hosting the event.
