Panathlon 2024
On Thursday 19th September, 2024, Ruislip High School hosted their second Panathlon event. We had an amazing turnout with seven school’s entering the competition and over 45 students competing in a number of different sporting events. Teams joined us from a variety of different schools: Rosedale College, Pentland Field School, Pield Heath House, Eden Pinkwell Satellites, Northwood High School and Moorcroft School.
The event was made up of ten different stations where teams had six minutes to gain as many points as they could. Some of the stations included events, such as athletics, boccia, poly bat, new age kurling and tennis.
The Panathlon event has four aims for all students, which included:
- To develop confidence and competence within physical activity/sports skill
- Build social skills and connections to create a sense of belonging
- Engage new groups of students to help tackle inequalities
- Create positive experience
The Ruislip High School students who competed in the events, showed great determination across the competition, resulting in a silver medal overall.
Well done to our amazing Year 10 Sports Leaders, who supported the competitors in the running of each event. These students were a credit to our school and widely commended by staff from other schools.
Year 10 Sports Leaders: Kallum J, Megan C, Jamie H, Louise S, Aaron L, Lacey W, Nathan L, Ciara W, Eva E, Ava W, Kai M, Hayden S, Nancy T, Caden C, Freya M, Kacie-Mae F, Emily F.
Ms Farrell, Head of Year 8, who helped to organise the event said: “The Panathlon was brilliant. We were really happy as a school to offer this event for a second year; it is a wonderful experience for all of the students who get to take part. Thank you to all of the other schools and their staff for getting involved and supporting the running of the event.”
