P.S. I Love You - Year 9 PSHE Production
On Friday 1st March 2024, the Daniel Spargo Foundation, a drug education charity, presented Mark Wheeller's play 'I Love You, Mum - I Promise I Won't Die' to all Year 9 students.
This was an emotional representation of a true life story, where a child sadly died from a drug overdose. The Daniel Spargo-Mabbs Foundation is a drug and alcohol education charity that aims to support young people to make safe choices about drugs and alcohol and reduce harm. They do this through increasing understanding of the effects and risks, and helping to develop life skills and resilience.
The Foundation was set up in January 2014 by Tim and Fiona Spargo-Mabbs in response to the death of their 16-year-old son Daniel having taken ecstasy.
Year 9 watched the performance with maturity. A Year 9 student commented: “Although the play was really sad, it is really important that we get the chance to watch performances like this. They really make you think.”
