Little Women
On Tuesday 19th December, the RHS Drama Department gave a phenomenal performance of ‘Little Women’. Adapted from Louisa May Alcott’s 19th Century novel, this was a journey of sisterly love, personal growth and gender expectations.
The play featured performances from students in Year 9-13. Every student shone; the production was incredibly ambitious, with the whole cast remaining on stage for the entire performance and included elements such as physical theatre, songs and dance.
Performing to a full audience, the cast were incredible and their performances reflected the hard work and dedication that they have put in over a rigorous rehearsal schedule, which has taken place throughout the Autumn Term. All of their hard work truly paid off and it was a sensational production.
Giselle, Year 12, who played the role of Jo March, said: “It was a thrilling opportunity and I am so grateful to have been a part of this magical play. The cast became such a strong community and I will miss our weekly rehearsals - we will be friends for life.”
Lyla, Year 11, who played Hannah, said: “To me, being part of the school play is a highlight of the year. I feel like the drama department is like one big community and that everyone involved gets a chance to show off the Ruislip High School values in many different ways - from respecting one another to the self-discipline required to learn our lines.”
Mr Randall, Head of Drama, said: “The students have all worked exceptionally hard and deserve all their plaudits. They pushed each other in rehearsal to be the best they could and it was apparent in their excellence on the night.”
Thank you to all of the staff, parents and students who turned up to watch the performance. It was a wonderful atmosphere - we really hope you enjoyed the show!
