About Us

Vanguard Learning Trust is a cross-phase Trust in the London Borough of Hillingdon. Vyners Learning Trust was established in February 2015 when Ryefield Primary School and Vyners School formed the multi-academy trust. In September 2018, Ruislip High School joined the Trust which was renamed Vanguard Learning Trust. The Trust currently has five schools: Field End Junior School, Hermitage Primary School, Ruislip High School, Ryefield Primary School and Vyners School. Oak Farm Primary School is also an associate member.

Ruislip High School

Governors are people who want to make a positive contribution to children's education. Ruislip High School has four parent governors (elected by parents) and two staff governors (elected by staff). In addition, there are nine community governors chosen for their broad range of skills. Governors are volunteers who have an important part to play in raising school standards. The role of the governing body is key to the effectiveness of a school. School governors provide strategic leadership and accountability in schools.

The Local Governing Body's main duties are to:-

  • Set the strategic direction, policies and objectives of the school
  • Set appropriate targets for student achievement at each Key Stage
  • Critically review the school's budget and development plans
  • Review progress against the school's budget and objectives
  • Challenge and support the Headteacher

Vanguard Learning Trust

All schools within the Trust operate as one legal entity with a single board of trustees. Although the schools retain their individual identities and their own local governing bodies, the board of trustees has responsibility to ensure the vision and values of the Trust are lived up to at each school. It also ensures that each local governing body is held accountable for the highest levels of teaching and learning within their schools.
